Frank van Hove (Demon)

was born in Bonn. After completing studies in theology and philosophy, he began studying singing.

His most important teachers were Kurt Moll, Rudolf Piernay and, especially, Irina Hartmann. Frank van Hove's career as an opera singer has taken him from the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, via the Staatstheater Braunschweig, to the Nationaltheater Mannheim, where he has been a member of the ensemble since 2005.

His greatest success to date in Mannheim was as Gurnemanz in Parsifal. He has also performed the roles of Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier and König Heinrich in Lohengrin, as well as Leporello in Don Giovanni and Enrico VIII in Donizetti's Anna Bolena to great acclaim. One of his major roles in Mannheim is that of the Landgraf in Tannhäuser.

Frank van Hove has sung under well known conductors, such as Kent Nagano, Gary Bertini, Friedmann Layer and Anu Tali, and has performed with such producers as Willy Decker, Johannes Schaaf and Harry Kupfer.

Frank van Hove has also sung the role of Arkel in Debussy's Pelleas and Melisande in Bochum under Steven Sloane.
